Comcast is the only option here at school. My pa2just got Direct TV just before I was home for Thanksgiving. I just kept thinking how it’s better than Comcast.

Yup

That’s often the case. Comcast monopolizes a great deal of area, unfortunately. Effects numerous businesses.
I’ve had shouting matches with their “Business Class” support.

In fairness, they suck less when there’s not a service outage, which is practically always. But when they suck, it’s -29.92 in.-Hg.

Not defending them, but in the last few times I have moved they had the best service and speed of anyone. I now have Charter Spectrum and wish I could go back. I had stable service that was 150/25 and it regularly would out perform. I am currently on the top package for Charter, 60/15 and I never see those speeds, nor is it stable. I have heard the customer service nightmares, but luckily never had to deal with it.

Comcast’s service is pretty reliable, overall. It’s just that their customer service is an outrage. Some months back, they stuck a $12.50/mo charge on my bill for Lightning Speed or something, without ever telling me and I had to discover it for myself. Bunch of crooks. I’d use the phone company for internet, except that it’s twisted-wire and he nearest repeater is two miles away, so DSL is something like 1.6 megabits.

Ouch, I hate when companies start to add hidden fees and crap. Sometimes it’s just accepting the good with the bad. An extra $150 a year is not the end of the world, but it is still an issue extra $150 that unexpectedly goes out the door and that sucks.

It’s when they add it and never mention it that I get irritated. Force me to take time to call them and opt out.

Their moments of less sucking are overshadowed by the fact that they’re comfortable letting small businesses rot for days by their lack of support even for their own infrastructure.

I find that entirely believable.

I have centurylink right now. Everytime the power goes out I lose internet for a day or so. It’s fun.

Yeah was praying for Google Fiber given that they named the area here. Bummer cuz now it appears they’re pulling the plug :(
